Why I Built DögEar
I was spending hours every day scrolling through TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. The algorithm was good—too good. It knew exactly what would keep me watching, and I couldn't stop.
But here's what bothered me: I always felt empty afterwards Worse, I could never remember any of the videos I'd seen. Hours of my life, gone, with nothing to show for it.
I didn't want to "like" videos because it would affect my algorithm. They were building a profile of me—watching my every move, learning my patterns, feeding me content designed to keep me hooked.
I wanted something private. Something where I controlled what I watched, not an algorithm optimizing for engagement. I wanted to remember the good videos, revisit them, and share them on my own terms.
So I built DögEar—a place where you can save the videos that matter to you, without anyone watching. No algorithm deciding what you see next. No profile being built. No data being sold.
Just you, your videos, and the freedom to consume content intentionally.
